Cocktails and Dreams …

The Cocktail Party was held at the Hayden Liberty Center in historic downtown Sedalia, MO. The marquis of the arts center gallery was lit with many light bulbs, giving it a old timey feel. Inside, the guests enjoyed a buffet of oysters, shrimp, crab-stuffed mushrooms along with assorted fruit and cheese. The party was well-attended with folks milling about through the gallery surrounded by the original paintings by Stephanie Azziere-Sattler. They came to meet old friends and get acquainted with new ones … all with a common dream : to become the first National Derby Champion – EVER!

We are having some issues with stormy weather, so look for Pictures to come tomorrow …

Setting Up A Party – The Set-Up Crew

The "Set-Up" crew is perhaps the most underrated committee who works behind the scenes in advance of the event to make sure that each test runs smoothly. This involves coming in early in the pre-National training week and working with the Judges to create a "book" of tests. The Judges at this event: Yvonne Hays, John Goettl and Jerry Kamphuis explored the test property of Bob and Barbara Hayden and selected close to twenty tests we are told that will eventually be whittled down to their favorite 8-10: weather conditions dependent. Our gracious hosts, Bob and Barbara hosted a party at their home where we were treated to libations and a very nice buffet dinner. Thank you, Bob and Barbara!
